Notes: 看见 is an example of a verb-verb compound formed with a 结果补语 'resultative complement'. The verb 看 'to see' is completed by the complement 见 'saw'. 看见 is a non-restrictive verb compound so that the infix potential marker 得 or negating adverb 不 can be inserted in the middle, as in 看得见 'able to see' and 看不见 'not able to see' (Sun 2006, loc. 654).
